Dr. Gerald Johnson, DVM
Dr.Johnson received his Veterinary Degree from the University of Florida in 1982. He is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He is a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. He combines his love for pets and their people with his experience in conventional and alternative medicine at his practice.
Bonnie, Reproduction Specialist
Bonnie has been involved with Labradors most of her life, working with them in obedience, hunting, conformation, and breeding since 1988. Bonnie's puppies can be found across the country and in Canada. They have aspired to greatness with Specialty placement, Champions, Therapy dogs, Search & Rescue, and much more. Most notable are her 1995 #4 ranked Labrador/#1 ranked chocolate Labrador in Canada and her bitch's daughter was one of the Search and Rescue dogs in NYC after 9/11. Her first chilled semen breeding was in 1994 resulting in 10 puppies, repeating that in 1995, again resulting in 10 puppies! Throughout this time she has learned the importance of testing, timing, and the need to keep up with the many tools available to help have a successful breeding program!
Tasha, Reproduction Specialist
Tasha started her career in 1986 breeding American Quarter Horses. She has taken courses at the
University of Florida to become certified in Equine Reproduction. Tasha has opened her farm in Brooksville to all stallions, hosting several seminars on her farm on proper frozen semen and cooled semen. Tasha continued studying Equine reproduction under Karen Berk. In 1992 she found another love of breeding smooth collies, as well as showing. In 2010, Tasha earned Collie Club of America Smooth Collie Breeder of the Year. Always striving to learn the newest and most successful canine breeding techniques she takes certification courses at Camelot Farms, University of Minnesota and many more reputable short courses. She is a member with AAEVT, FVTA and NAVTA
Cassy, CVT, Lead Veterinary Technician/Office Administrator
Cassy grew up in South Carolina where she went to school, earning associates of applied science in Veterinary Technology. In 2012, she packed up and headed for sunny Florida! She came to Silverthorn Animal Clinic and hasn’t looked back since! She enjoys having a career where she can
educate pet owners and help them get the best possible care for their babies. Cassy has 6 babies of her own; 4 cats, Pepper, Penny, Tate, and Jezebel, and 2 dogs, Russell, a bearded collie mix, and
Benji the Shih Tzu. In her free time, Cassy loves to read and cook (always bringing us delicious
baked goods, of course). Although Cassy has considered specialization within her degree, she has
no plans set in stone, and is enjoying living life to the fullest each and every day!
Rabeka, Veterinary Technician/ Front End Manager
Rabeka is originally from Orlando, FL, but has lived in Daytona and now calls Hudson home. Rabeka has been in the veterinary field for the past 10 years and has several certifications in the field. She has obtained her Veterinary Assistant certification, her OSHA certification, FEMA certification, as well as the Silver Presidential award for Volunteer hours and the Board of Commissioners appreciation letter. She is currently enrolled in school to earn her Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology and practice management. When Rabeka isn’t busy getting certified in everything she possibly can, she enjoys camping, fishing, and of course, lounging on the beach. She also enjoys sharing her hobbies with Kyleigh, her daughter, and Dixie, her 12 year old Sheltie. While at the clinic, it will be hard to miss Rabeka’s bubbly spirit and happy personality!
Lisa , Veterinary Technician
Lisa has been fostering and relocating abandoned animals (wildlife included) for many years,she started working at Silverthorn Animal to further her education in the industry. She has her AA and started on her prerequisites toward a degree in zoology. Lisa has been supporting herself for the past 8 years as a Professional Photographer; she has recently created a full spread calendar of her pets! Lisa has many interests,one being nutrition for animals and will soon be learning more about it. Our clients have been known to call her the Resident Cat Lady of Silverthorn Animal Clinic.
Chelsea,Reproduction Specialist/ Veterinary Technician
Chelsea is from Pennsylvania originally, and has always loved Florida since she was little. She has a great passion for the veterinary field. She has volunteered for a few local shelters doing anything and everything needed, mostly cleaning,transporting and shadowing technicians; which is where the interest sparked between 2008-2010. She decided to move to Orlando,Florida in 2011, she obtain her veterinary assistant diploma at Florida Institute of Animal Arts. Chelsea's personal life led her back to Pennsylvania in 2012, it landed her a job as a veterinary technician, where she gained her knowledge in dentistry, emergency medicine, client education and so much more. She plans to continue her education online to obtain an AS degree in veterinary technology so she can receive licensed. She's always known to have a smile on her face, and when she isn't working, she is enjoying the beaches, outdoor activities especially kayaking with her husband and fur baby Brandy
Sarah, Veterinary Technician
Sarah is our newest edition to the Silverthorn team! She was born in Augusta, Georgia, but has lived many places, including Hawaii, due to her father being in the military. Sarah found her home in Florida during her high school days. She is currently enrolled in school at the University of South Florida where she will be graduating with her bachelor’s degree in integrative animal biology. Sarah currently shares her time with her three pets; Leilan is a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix, Kaleha, who is a Siamese/ragdoll mix, and Koa, who is a Maine coon (and also has cerebellar hypoplasia). In her spare time, Sarah likes to go to the beach, play video games, and spend time with her Fiancé. Sarah’s plans for the future include becoming a wildlife rehabilitator and helping injured or abandoned animal recover and be released back into the wild.
Amanda, Veterinary Technician
Kelsey, Lead Receptionist/Veterinary Technician
Kelsey was originally born in Kissimmee Florida, but was raised in Chattanooga Tennessee. Kelsey
has three, four legged babies, Chevelle, an American Staffordshire terrier, Oreo, A German
shepherd mix, and Ivanna (or funky monkey) a Silky Terrier. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys photography, hiking, cooking, sports (GO NOLES!), and spending time with her family. Kelsey has also been known to rehab opossums and other wildlife, especially opossum babies. In Chattanooga, Kelsey worked as a nurse in an emergency and specialty animal clinic, spent almost two years as a corrections officer over the federal men’s unit and women’s units at the local jail, and most recently, spent her days as Senior Animal control officer for her local animal shelter. In August of 2015, life brought her and her husband to Brooksville Florida, and she found her home away from home at Silverthorn. Kelsey has certifications in pet nutrition and pet loss counseling, and plans on finishing school for her certification and license in canine rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. She hopes to continue learning and spreading her knowledge with others while at the clinic!.
When you first arrive at Silverthorn, most likely you will see Emily’s smiling face! In February of 2016, life and love brought her to Florida. A Charlotte, NC native, Emily has experience as an admissions receptionist at her local college and front desk at a 24 hour Emergency Animal hospital. Emily also has her Bachelors of Science degree. A long way from Charlotte, NC, Emily found her place here at the clinic. Emily plans on continuing to live life to the fullest, and hopefully buy a house and start a family in the next 5 years!
Stella, Patient Care Advocate
Stella has found herself a prime piece of real estate here at the clinic! She spends her days making sure the counters are good to lay on, the chairs are soft and squishy, and there is plenty of food in her bowl. Stella also makes sure everyone has enough love to give to all the patients that come in each and everyday. Stella is a sweet girl with A LOT of personality.
