Dr. Gerald Johnson, DVM
Opened the clinic in June 2011
Dr.Johnson received his Veterinary Degree from the University of Florida in 1982. He is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He is a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. He combines his love for pets and their people with his experience in conventional and alternative medicine at his practice.
Dr Kelly Pyle, DVM
Dr. Kelly Pyle is the newest member of the Silverthorn Family. Dr. Pyle was born and raised in Orlando Florida and did her undergrad studies at Stetson University. From there, she attended Veterinary school at St. George’s University in the country of Grenada located in the Caribbean. She did her Clinical rotations at UF Veterinary School and graduated in January of 2017. While in school for her undergrad, Dr. Pyle was an intern at Med Toxin Venom Lab working on an antivenom project and was President of the Veterinary Student Herpetological Society. She also won the Nicholas M Lonce Award for excellence in reptile medicine in 2013. Dr. Pyle sees animals ranging from Great Danes to ferrets to ball pythons. She also breeds ball pythons with focus on genetic mutations in pattern and color. In her free time, Dr. Pyle likes to spend time with her daughter and husband, as well as her Doberman, three Chinese Crested, and over 300 reptiles. Cassy, CVT, Head Veterinary Technician
Cassy grew up in South Carolina where she went to school, earning associates of applied science in Veterinary Technology. In 2012, she packed up and headed for sunny Florida! She came to Silverthorn Animal Clinic and hasn’t looked back since! She enjoys having a career where she can educate pet owners and help them get the best possible care for their babies. Cassy has 6 babies of her own; 5 cats, Pepper, Jaina, Boris, Natasha, and Jezebel, and 1 dog, Eleanor, a shih tzu mix. In her free time, Cassy loves to read and cook (always bringing us delicious baked goods, of course). Although Cassy has considered specialization within her degree, she has no plans set in stone, and is enjoying living life to the fullest each and every day!
Bonnie, Reproduction Specialist
Bonnie has been involved with Labradors most of her life, working with them in obedience, hunting, conformation, and breeding since 1988. Bonnie's puppies can be found across the country and in Canada. They have aspired to greatness with Specialty placement, Champions, Therapy dogs, Search & Rescue, and much more. Most notable are her 1995 #4 ranked Labrador/#1 ranked chocolate Labrador in Canada and her bitch's daughter was one of the Search and Rescue dogs in NYC after 9/11. Her first chilled semen breeding was in 1994 resulting in 10 puppies, repeating that in 1995, again resulting in 10 puppies! Throughout this time she has learned the importance of testing, timing, and the need to keep up with the many tools available to help have a successful breeding program!
Lisa , Veterinary Technician
Lisa was born in Yonkers, New York and moved to Florida when she was 9. Lisa has been working in the veterinary field for the past 6 years. Our clients have been known to call her the Resident Cat Lady of Silverthorn Animal Clinic. Lisa enjoys client education, training techniques, and food therapy. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and menagerie of furry friends!
Tammy, Veterinary Technician
Tammy has been with the clinic for the longest amount of time and now only works part time, so you can find her here on the weekends! Tammy is our nature child of the group! She can be found hiking, exploring, scuba diving and kayaking, usually with her two girls, Rumba and Cola, right by her side. When Tammy isn't being cool and traveling the world, shes hanging out close to home, and sometimes even at home with the girls and her kitty, Hugo. Tammy has a heart for all animals and enjoys being able to help while here at the clinic!
Sarah, Veterinary Technician
Sarah is the laughing, smiling face you see when at Silverthorn! She was born in Augusta, Georgia, but has lived many places, including Hawaii due to her father being in the military. Sarah found her home in Florida during her middle school days. Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in integrative animal biology from the University of South Florida. She currently shares her time with her 5 pets; Leilani is a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix, Kai, a pitbull, and her 3 cats Kaleha, Keala, and Koa, who has cerebellar hypoplasia. In her spare time, Sarah likes to go to the beach, play video games, cosplay, and spend time with her Fiancé. Sarah is currently training to become and anesthesia nurse here and is certified as an Accredited Medivet Stem cell and PRP Technician.
Emily, Lead Receptionist
When you first arrive at Silverthorn, most likely you will see Emily’s smiling face! In February of 2016, life and love brought her to Florida. A Charlotte, NC native, Emily has experience as an admissions receptionist at her local college and front desk at a 24 hour Emergency Animal hospital. Emily also has her Bachelors of Science degree. A long way from Charlotte, NC, Emily found her place here at the clinic. Emily plans on continuing to live life to the fullest and spending as much time as she can with her family, her boyfriend, and her pup baby, Raven.
Tanya is our newest member of the Silverthorn team. Tanya lived most of her life in Northeastern Vermont until recently moving here to Florida in fall of 2018. She has had many jobs in teaching and reception over the years. Outside of work, Tanya enjoys exploring parks around town with her husband and Dog, Ziva. Tanya is excited to continue her time here and learn as much as she can while doing it. She has been a great addition to our front office teams and has jumped right in with fitting in with our crazy crew!
Davanie, Veterinary Technician
Davanie was born in Jacksonville, FL and will always call that home! She has been in Spring hill for about a year and a half now since the Navy life brought her and her family here. Davanie has two kids, Mackenzie and Caleb, and a four legged baby, Kobe James. Davanie is currently enrolled at Penn Foster College for veterinary technology and is about to start her final externship. In her free time, Davanie likes to go fishing, shopping, and spoiling her kids! Davanie plans to continue learning and improving her skills while here at Silverthorn.
Taylor, Veterinary Assistant
Taylor keeps the peace with all the women around this joint! Taylor has lived in Brooksville for majority of his life. He first started at the clinic as a volunteer during his high school years. Taylor recently graduated high school in 2018 and is currently enrolled at PHSC and working towards acceptance into the nursing program. In his free time, Taylor enjoys working out, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and going to the beach. Taylor also enjoys spending time with his dog, Joey, a Parson Russell Terrier.

Chantalle, Veterinary Technician
Chantalle was originally born in Gelnhausen, Germany, and moved to the US when she was 13. She has been in the veterinary field for the past 5 years, continuing to expand her knowledge and learn as much as possible. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, going to the beach, and eating LOTS of sushi! Chantalle shares her heart with her 3 cats, Drooly, Felix, and Sapporah. In the future, she plans on moving back to Germany to finish her CVT and start a career in her homeland.
Stella, Patient Care Advocate
Stella has found herself a prime piece of real estate here at the clinic! She spends her days making sure the counters are good to lay on, the chairs are soft and squishy, and there is plenty of food in her bowl. Stella also makes sure everyone has enough love to give to all the patients that come in each and everyday. Stella is a sweet girl with A LOT of personality.
